Ashley VanHorn, a recent graduate of the Walmart Academy, makes breakfast for her family, plays with her two children, and has time for a smoke break before heading to work at Walmart in Fulton, NY. Ashley lost her last apartment in a fire and her husband is currently out of work. She credits Walmart for helping her through a tough time. Shot for the @nytimes. Please check out the full story on what Walmart means to the town of Fulton, NY. Link in the bio. It looks amazing on a laptop.
I photographed graduating members of the Walmart Academy for the @nytimes for a story on what @walmart means to the town of Fulton, NY. Please check out the story link in the bio on a laptop if you can. It looks amazing. Thanks to @whitney_rich for molding me into a photojournalist.
Last one from the Mafia cover story shot for @societyofficiel. This is an outtake of Frank DiMatteo. Frank was an enforcer for the Gallo crime family until the early 2000s when he was able to walk away without being an informant. He considers himself very very lucky.
Here is an outtake of John Alite for @societyofficiel. John is a former Gotti hitman turned government informant turned motivational speaker. The stories John told the writer were incredible. When asked if people were out to get him he told a story from a few weeks back when he was attacked by a group outside a strip club in Queens and had to escape by jumping off a bridge into the river.
James Guiliani, a former enforcer for the mob, runs a secret not-so-legal animal sanctuary in Brooklyn where he rescues dogs, cats, turtles, possums, raccoons, whatever. If he hears about an animal being abused he said he’s used whatever means necessary to make sure that animal is safe. This is an outtake from the day we spent with James for a story on the mafia for @societyofficiel magazine.
