Don't forget to give your #intercostal muscles some love next time you're just hanging around..

There's always more than one way to do something right. I'm often asked if I switch up my routines, and the answer is, no. Not really. But I do constantly change factors such as grip position, angles, shocking principles. So whilst my muscle groups and general approach to training remains fairly constant, my approach to each workout is never the same as the one previous to it.

I first met @shaunstafford in London some many years ago now, and have admired his success from the stage to being one of the most recognized guys in the fitness industry today, but above all that, just an all round decent guy, father, husband, and inspiration to many. There were many big names today at the #olympia but few could touch Shaun's charisma and down-to-earth attitude. (Watch out for the interview with him, and many others, for the new content I'm producing for @supplements_w - due to be uploaded next week.

So here's the thing, my arms have always been one of my strengths. I've trained as best I can for symmetry and balance (bi's/tri's/delt tie-in). I've got a great bicep peak because of the genetics of my bicep length, but my physique has always been something I've had to work very hard for. I've been accused of steroid/drug use since my first competition back in '05, and whilst this post isn't about that particular topic (I've given up always having to defend myself, as ppl will always say what they think), I wanted to share this pic from last week to highlight the effect of having every factor in your favor for the perfect ๐Ÿ“ท
With the right carb-up (prior to low carbs for most of the week), which helps with my vascularity, a lot of blood pooled in my muscles (from supersetting biceps & triceps), the right angle of the picture taken, with the right lighting, and the right filter, sure - I'll be the the first one to say... ๐Ÿ˜ฒRob looks very different?!! But that's all it is. If you look at my posts from literally a couple of days after this, I don't like anywhere near the same as this, but that's all it is: the right conditions at the right time the picture was taken. But then again, people will always assume and say what they think, and I've just come to accept that. To those who truly know me, your support means everything to me. Never when I first started weight lifting did I ever see myself doing all the great things I'm fortunate to be doing now. Be persistent in following your dreams and goals ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

I realize that most of my posts are only fitness-related, but the truth is there's a lot more to my life than training. I simply don't show everything because A) it's just not that interesting, and B) some stuff I like to keep private, but the truth is - my girl has been next to be along every step of the way, and such an amazing support system for me. We both drive each other, but when it comes to traveling for much of my fitness-related work, she's always there for me. For that, I'm truly blessed and thankful โ™ฅ๏ธ
(And yes, we were at the @cheesecakefactory last for a cheat meal)

It's been a long day at the @mrolympiallc - especially after not arriving from LA until after 2am, but the energy was great today and even though I was drained, I wanted to finish the day with a crazy chest + back superset workout. If you see me walking around the Expo tomorrow - stop and say hi..

Having some fun again with @jamesellisfit whom I first met some ten years ago when at a @muscle_and_fitness shoot. We also battled it out on stage in 2011 at the world finals for fitness modeling. 6 years later we're still doing our thing... That's what I love about this fitness thing. The consistency in keeping it our lifestyle!!

I try to take at least one complete day off from training, with only about 4 out of the 6 days training being all-out effort. The body needs time to rest & recover in order for you to progress!

Nice day to take a ride. Where should we go...? The world is ours to explore!

The look of pure commitment to that last rep ๐Ÿ˜ซ
Remember - it's those final few repetitions when you've reached the end of your #comfortzone where you really get the opportunity to challenge the muscles. It's these final few reps when you surpass last weeks efforts, and that you're going to start to see the biggest changes in your physique.

A different type of cardio this afternoon, taking Lola hiking around the Canyons of Santa Monica. More on my IG Story..

This is a glimpse of my latest Shoulders & Triceps video soon to go live. We've focused on a different feel than most of my other vids, with new sections showing an insight into what drives and motivates me. New video will be featured first on the @supplements_w website next week, alongside a full new interview feature with me. (Thank you to @nedimvrabac for helping bring this vision to life!)
