Half-front Splits Pose, or Ardha Hanumansana, is a great stretch for the hips, hamstrings, calves, and low back. To effectively practice this pose, square your hips, and make sure they are directly over your back knee. πŸ’œ

Hanumanasana is a pose that on the surface looks like it's all about flexibility... And while it does require opening of the hip-flexors and hamstrings, there's also a lot of muscle activation happening here (as well as some gentle heart-opening too). ❀️

✨ Compass Pose, or Parivrtta Surya Yantrasana ✨
Compass Pose is a great stretch for the hips, hamstrings, and shoulders. It's also a gentle twist which helps stimulate digestion.
Practice this pose mindfully, don’t worry too much if you cannot straighten out your leg.
1. Begin seated comfortably in a cross-legged position.
2. Bend the left knee and hold it close to the chest. Keep the right leg extended or bent on the floor.
3. Lift the left leg with your right hand and bring the right hand under your left knee. Place the left fingertips firmly onto the floor.
4. With your right hand, lift your left knee up on to your left shoulder, as high up as you can. The higher the leg is lifted, the easier the pose becomes.
5. Place the right hand on the outside edge of the left foot. Try to straighten the left leg while bringing the right arm overhead.
6. Hold for 6-12 breaths. Release and repeat on the opposite side.

Here are 5 Reasons to Practice Wheel Pose!
1. Backbends are one of the most effective ways to counteract all of the hours we spend leaning forward (i.e. working on a computer, driving, etc), and help reverse the effects of poor posture.
2. Wheel pose strengthens the legs, arms, wrists, & back muscles while it stretches the entire front body. It also increases mobility & awareness of the spine.
3. It's physically invigorating & mentally energizing.
4. The chest and rib cage expand while in Wheel pose, creating space for breath. This allows for more oxygen to enter the lungs & rib cage during inhalation.
5. Wheel pose & other backbends have been known to stimulate the central nervous system, improve circulation, and boost the immune system.
