Here are 5 Reasons to Practice Wheel Pose!
1. Backbends are one of the most effective ways to counteract all of the hours we spend leaning forward (i.e. working on a computer, driving, etc), and help reverse the effects of poor posture.
2. Wheel pose strengthens the legs, arms, wrists, & back muscles while it stretches the entire front body. It also increases mobility & awareness of the spine.
3. It's physically invigorating & mentally energizing.
4. The chest and rib cage expand while in Wheel pose, creating space for breath. This allows for more oxygen to enter the lungs & rib cage during inhalation.
5. Wheel pose & other backbends have been known to stimulate the central nervous system, improve circulation, and boost the immune system.
