Uma by Como Hotel, in Ubud, Bali. One of my my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in ever. Normally I'm a stay on the beach type of vacationer, but being surrounded by the jungle and all the flowers and birds of all colors made this spot unforgettable.
A quick ferry and bus ride away from Hong Kong leads you to Big Buddha. He is huge. Surrounded by incredible temples, the statue itself is a three story building you can explore - part shrine, part museum. Lots of stairs to climb, though.
One night we asked the hotel we were staying at to show us the "real" Bali - the side of the island you wouldn't normally see as tourists. They took us to a night market - about a quarter of a mile strip of stalls selling every possible thing you can imagine. From beach toys to clothes to live octopus and delicious sugary treats.
Hong Kong is a foggy magical techno wonderland. We took the tram up to the top of Victoria Peak (which was a lot more like Downtown Disney than we realized) and camped out until the light show, where all the buildings sync together with incredible displays.
Throwback to this glorious beach in Jimbaran, Bali. Summer can’t come soon enough.
Please send good vibes to Miss Lonely. Maybe give her a call and tell her to keep her head up?
