It was rough for both of us. Him because he worked so hard only to fall short. Me because who was I to deserve success without him? That was the beginning of a rough patch filled with hurt, guilt, and shame. I share this because marriage isnโ€™t perfect, and in the end this proved to be a valuable lesson in ours. Here we are again. Tonight I sit across from sleeping Chris, just hoping and praying tomorrow is kind to him. Itโ€™s been a LONG 12 weeks of prep, filled with sacrifice, dedication, and a tough balance. He deserves it. #Swipe2see

If you arenโ€™t eating like a horse (or a Heidi), youโ€™ll struggle just to build even a little bit of muscle โ€”let alone โ€œmanly massโ€ โ€”no matter how hard you lift.๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I was reminded today that our children will follow our examples, NOT our advice. We can preach until weโ€™re blue in the face, but if we arenโ€™t walking the walk, it does no good to talk the talk.

May I always teach my daughters through my example that there is so much beauty in strength, confidence, kindness, hard work, and respect. That the scale doesnโ€™t matter NEAR as much as their happiness does. And that happiness isnโ€™t FOUND...it is CREATED.โœจ

May they remain humble yet know their value because they witness me doing the same. May they treat EVERYONE that crosses their path as equals, and realize that true friends are usually the ones that most people reject.๐Ÿ’•

Everyone uses a different coping mechanism to deal with their stress. Some people drink, some smoke, some do drugs, eat, yell, or bite their nails to name a few. Whatโ€™s yours?

Iโ€™ve been struggling today feeling like after years of rehabilitation, making mistakes, self-reflection, and striving to rid the bad and allow in the good, Iโ€™m left with NO coping mechanism to deal with stress...and sometimes I want one (dang it).๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

But after looking through my camera roll from the weekend, I realize I already do. My coping mechanism is letting go of what people might think of me, and dance to the damned bongo drums on the streets of Tucson in front of complete strangers, knowing very well Iโ€™m not the best dancer.

I cope by connecting with people, letting loose, and allowing my self to act drunk (responsibly) and high on life...no drugs needed.
.
I cope by giving my time to those I love, listening to their struggles and sharing mine in an effort to help them find peace.
.
I cope by surrounding myself with people I know have my back no matter what, through thick and through thin. People who will continually push me, inspire me, and ENCOURAGE me to be me...and love me for that.
.
I cope by attempting things I KNOW I might not succeed at, but doing them anyway because I never want to feel like Iโ€™m wasting away more of my life than I already have.

I cope by keeping myself busy to avoid being alone with the negative thoughts and temptations that will undoubtedly enter my head.
.
I cope by allowing myself to cry, even if it means Chris canโ€™t figure out why and has no idea how to respond.๐Ÿ˜‚

I cope by feeling life with every sense of my being. Every single painful low, every heartbreak, every hurt feeling, every broken bone, every consequence. I feel it all. The good days and the hard.

SWEET POTATO FRITTERS
.
4 ounces ground beef
8 tablespoons yellow onions chopped
4 whole eggs
4 egg whites
11 ounces sweet potato, grated
Garlic and herb seasoning to taste
Black pepper to taste
6 tablespoons low-fat grated mozzarella cheese .
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 8-10 muffin cups with cooking spray. 2. Brown ground beef with onions. Set aside.
3. Beat eggs. Add ground beef, sweet potato, and seasonings. Mix well.
4. Spoon mixture into 8-10 muffin cups and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with cheese and bake an additional 5-10 minutes. Enjoy!

Find your own bright spots (or green patches), focus on and let those guide your happiness. KNOW that most of what we compare ourselves to on Instagram is simply another person (sometimes me) posting their โ€œhighlight reelโ€ (Aka. NOT always reality), brushing the yucky parts under the rug. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ #Truth

REMEMBER: The grass is greener where you water it. Stay in your own damn lane and water your own damn grass instead of wasting precious time and energy wishing you had someone elseโ€™s.
