Forty Autumns by Nina Willner is a touching memoir that captures a tale of heartache, war, and survival. It takes a personal look at a tenuous era that divided a city and a nation, and continues to haunt us. Forty Autumns is an intimate and beautifully written story of courage, resilience and love-of five women whose spirits could not be broken, and who fought to preserve what matters most: family.
Thanks to @williammorrowbooks and @storygramtours I have one copy of Forty Autumns up for grabs.

In this illuminating and deeply moving memoir, a former American military intelligence officer goes beyond traditional Cold War espionage tales to tell the true story of her family—of five women separated by the Iron Curtain for more than forty years, and their miraculous reunion after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Forty Autumns makes visceral the pain and longing of one family forced to live apart in a world divided by two. At twenty, Hanna escaped from East to West Germany. But the price of freedom—leaving behind her parents, eight siblings, and family home—was heartbreaking. Uprooted, Hanna eventually moved to America, where she settled down with her husband and had children of her own.
Growing up near Washington, D.C., Hanna’s daughter, Nina Willner became the first female Army Intelligence Officer to lead sensitive intelligence operations in East Berlin at the height of the Cold War. Though only a few miles separated American Nina and her German relatives—grandmother Oma, Aunt Heidi, and cousin, Cordula, a member of the East German Olympic training team—a bitter political war kept them apart.

Today I am so excited to present to you all a short interview that I did with @kathrynpurdie, author of Burning Glass and Crystal Blade!
Here's a little This or That session:
1. Bad boys or sweet boys?
"Oh, that's hard! I'm a sucker for a blend, actually-the bad AND sweet boy. But they're usually a recipe for disaster, so I should stick with plain sweet boys, shouldn't I? ;-)"
2. Smart/shy heroine or feisty/ruthless heroine?
"Sonya definitely falls into the feisty/ruthless category for heroines. She's a storm of all emotions and trying to find herself in the mix. Because of that, she is very fun to write and full of surprises. My next series, BONE GRACE, has two heroines, though-one of each of kind. The perfect balance! :-)"
3. Reading fantasy or dystopian?
"I love a good dystopian, but my heart belongs to fantasy. I'm currently reading and loving BEFORE SHE IGNITES by Jodi Meadows, a fantastic fantasy!"
The Burning Glass series is a dark young adult fantasy filled with magic, romance and adventure.

Why hello there new theme...

So here's where I explain why I'm starting a new theme.
Starting this school year (which is next week), I am going to be super duper busy and probably won't post more than 3 times a week. I will probably be posting at whenever times I am available or required to.
But that's not the main reason. Bookstagram is so much different from what I was used to. I feel like too many people have way too many expectations for me here on this account. I feel like I am not free to express what I want to express and my personality. Some of you may not know this, but I am only 14 years old. I live a pretty busy life outside of the internet. And to be real with you all, in a year or so, I don't know if I'll still be here on bookstagram. I sometimes struggle real hard to come up with something to post. Following a 'theme' had absolutely drove me nuts and I felt absolutely unmotivated.
So here's my fresh start. I'm going to be fully me, posting whatever I truly want and you know what, NO 'THEME' WHATSOEVER. That's right! I'm going to shove my OCD to the back of my brain and move on.

And I'm not sorry for the rant at all, I really needed to get that off my chest.

Also! I'd like to thank all the wonderful friends I made on here for being super amazing and supportive, you've made me so much more motivated to be here.

And if you've made it this far, you're amazing! Stay lovely! (And tell me your favorite emoji, I might go spam you with some love if I haven't done so already. 😊)

[3/3] Too late to chicken out now right?

[2/3] Wow...I don't know if I'm regretting this or not. And these ugly theme dividers are because I don't like my feed empty. It drove me nuts how long it took me to build up what I already had.

[1/3] You know how I said September 2017? Well it was way too nerve wracking to wait. I'm not sorry.

What's your favorite color?

What is your Hogwarts house?
Hello friends!
I don't really have much to talk about other than feeling somewhat happy and a wee bit scared about starting my freshman year in exactly two weeks from today. So if you have any tips about getting through that, let me know!
Have a wonderful day/night! ❤️

What is your favorite candle scent?
Happy August everyone!
This is my favorite candle from @wickywickycandleco . It smells absolutely AMAZING. If you watch my stories, you'll probably remember me sniffing it and rambling about how good it smells. So if you're looking for a candle that has a perfect smell of ocean breeze, orange blossom, and jasmine, this is the one! And the label is absolutely gorgeous. My picture does no justice to it at all.
If you decide to purchase any of Caitlin's candles over at @wickywickycandleco , feel free to be a cheapskate and use my code READ20 to get 20% off.

What are some of your favorite 2017 releases so far?
I am oh so grateful that I play the piano becus I can easily hide my phone under the piano and play on it...okay...but I still gotta practice so I'll make this short.
Some of my favorite reads so far this year are Geekerella and A Crown of Wishes. I judged them both by the cover and I ended up loving them so much!
