On October 16th, in the wake of Hurricane Michael, #TeamROWW arrived in Mexico Beach to complete devastation. Homes and businesses were flattened, power lines were down, trees were snapped in half, and debris was everywhere. The town was destroyed beyond recognition. ROWW's primary mission was to clear debris and trees so homeowners could safely return to their homes.
In the first neighborhood ROWW sought to help, our team discovered two firefighters, Jake Jaxon and Joe Walker, working side-by-side cutting down trees and hauling debris from two homes. ROWW learned that the residents who occupied these two homes were family members of Jake and Joe. Our team went straight to work in hopes of giving our fellow first responders some relief before they had to return back on duty at their stations, hours away.
All day in the intense Florida heat and humidity, our team joined Jake and Joe and a 3 man arborist group from Tree Works, LLC. We ran chainsaws, tarped roofs, and cleared debris off the properties until nightfall. At the end of the day, our team saw relief and hope restored to both families. We were glad to lend a hand. It was the least we could do for those that have lost so much. "It made an impact on us. What seemed like a daunting task that was never going to get done seemed easy to complete... 5 days of work in 2 days... thank you very much." -Joe #roww #reachoutworldwide #disasterrelief #hurricanemichael #mexicobeachfl
