Happy Birthday to Brazilian modernist Oscar Niemeyer who would have been 111 today! Pictured here are Niemeyer's sensual designs; coffee table in ebonized wood, "Rio" chaise lounge with a woven cane seat and leather head rest, and "Marquesa" bench in red lacquered wood and cane seat.

A true master of his craft, Jeff Zimmerman compresses his hand-blown glass objects while the glass is still hot pushing the medium to its absolute extreme to create these incredible sensual vessels.

American modernist Edward Wormley designed this exquisite table constructed of walnut wood, brass, and Tiffany Studios favrile glass tiles in 1957.

Jeff Zimmerman's hand-blown and cut glass masterworks are inspired by molecular biology, patterns found in nature, and outer space. This unique hanging vine with nine organically shaped glass globes was designed and made by Jeff this year and is currently on view in "New Works" by Jeff Zimmerman on the upper level of the 64 White Street gallery.

These glass vases were designed by Finnish design genius Tapio Wirkkala in the 1940s and 50s and produced by Iittala Glassworks. Though internationally acclaimed as a master of post-modern industrial art, Wirkkala took refuge in nature where he found inspiration for his designs.

Contemporary designer @JohnnySwing welded half dollars, quarters, and nickels onto a stainless steel base to construct this playfully unique small bowl earlier this year. #JohnnySwing #ContemporaryDesign
