Remove people & clients from your life that make you question yourself. If they don’t see you as irreplaceable, then there are people ready to take their time slot. Self doubt and overthinking creates mistakes and a client over questioning you, asking why everything is taking so long and generally making you feel shitty and under valued, creates a toxic vibe and can cause you to doubt your self and your skill set
(This is only 1 in a million clients that treats us like “a hairstylist they’re paying” and not a person with feelings)
Now that I’m in my own studio and I’m not being told I have to book multiple appointments a day and leave by a certain time. I’m able to focus 100% of my attention on my clients. I happily bend over backwards for them, I treat them like they are my whole world for the entire time they’re in my chair (no matter how long it takes) I don’t double book (unless requested or by mistake) And every one of my clients will attest to that. I’m human so I eff up from time to time, but I’m ok with that because I know how to fix a mistake, I’m honest about it and never defensive. So if someone is mean, it’s cause they’re a dick.
This post was for my friend that is the same way with her clients, she had a really bad experience recently. I wanted remind her that even if she’s still learning, she deserves respect. I’m proud of her for standing her ground and firing this client. My friend felt like she was being too harsh in firing her while trying to build her book, but she was justified I promise... #SheHandedHerTheScissors
My advice to my fellow hairslayers is, if you’re skill set is on point and you’ve done everything in your power to treat them like a VIP. And they still don’t make you feel like a badass hair thug/color goddess, then you’re not for them, LET. THEM. GO.
