Quilt Festival  International Quilt Festival in Houston and Chicago. #QuiltFestival

With heavy hearts, we have to share with you the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Judy Murrah.

Judy, as our Vice President for Education and Administration for many years, was an extremely important member of our Executive Committee. But more than that, she was our long-time dear, dear friend, who shared many wonderful times with us, from the early days of our company up until our recent fall shows.

She was an incredible teacher, author, designer, and quilter who shared her knowledge and love of quilting, and of our company and its mission, as well as that of the Texas Quilt Museum, with people both near and far. Her skill with a needle was matched by her skill in planning our International Quilt Festival and International Quilt Market classes and running our Education Department, all backed by her knowledge, experience, and people skills.

Judy will be greatly missed by so many people.

62 years ago today, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus, leading to her arrest. She stood her ground by taking a seat, fighting for equality and freedom. We're honoring this day with a quilt by Christina Blais named "Determination," inspired by Rosa Parks' words from the events of that day.
"When he waved his hand and ordered us up and out of our seats, I felt a determination cover my body like a quilt on a winter night... I felt a light suddenly shine through the darkness."

If you're in need of a little color to get you through the rest of the week... we've got you covered! "Lite Brite" by Maria Shell was featured in the Hands All Around exhibit at Quilt Festival Houston.

We love the way Jill Kerttula used fabric and quilting to create the illusion of shadows and sunlight in "Urban Voyeur: Union Station." Just incredible!

We are always amazed at the work our friends at the Ovarian Cancer Quilt Project are doing, and their recent online auction is no exception! The Ovarian Cancer Quilt Project’s Online Quilt Auction raised $52,426 benefiting the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

There are so many incredible aspects of this quilt, we can’t even pick our favorite! “Perceptions of Life” by Linda Anderson was featured in the “Personal Iconography” exhibit at Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas.
