Our #BookTuesday pick is @saltfatacidheat by @ciaosamin.

In the tradition of #TheJoyOfCooking and #HowToCookEverything comes this #NewYorkTimes bestseller, winner of the 2018 #JamesBeardAward for Best General #Cookbook, and inspiration for the acclaimed #Netflix documentary series.

Chef and writer Samin Nosrat has taught everyone from professional chefs to middle school kids to author #MichaelPollan to cook using her revolutionary, yet simple, philosophy. Master the use of just four elements—Salt, which enhances flavor; Fat, which delivers flavor and generates texture; Acid, which balances flavor; and Heat, which ultimately determines the texture of food—and anything you cook will be delicious.

Echoing Samin's own journey from culinary novice to award-winning chef, “Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat” immediately bridges the gap between home and professional kitchens. With a charming narrative, illustrated walkthroughs and infographics by renowned illustrator @wendymac, and a lighthearted approach to kitchen science, Samin demystifies the four elements of good cooking for everyone.

By explaining the hows and whys of good #cooking, “Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat” will teach and inspire a new generation of cooks how to confidently make better decisions in the kitchen and cook delicious meals with any ingredients, anywhere, at any time. Grab a copy today! #bookrecommendation #bookrec #bookstagram #instabook #SaminNosrat #WendyMacNaughton #SaltFatAcidHeat

Ran over 7 miles today in this freezing weather! In this really big borough of #parks and #libraries, I’ve been running all over #Queens and showing the some scenes from the runs. Today started at Roy Wilkins Southern Queens Park and Baisley Pond Park and of course ran past the Baisley Park Queens Library! #RunningQueens

I’m loving walking into my local library, or even my laundry room, and seeing the Queens Library flyer for my @seltzertopia talk this Saturday, January 12. #ForestHills Library, 2:30PM.

Our #ItsTimeForKind campaign may have ended, but it’s always a good time for stories about #kindness! Visit the Queens Library YouTube channel to watch videos of our Kindness #ReadAlouds. Do you like to write, talk or think about art? Join us for The People’s Guide to the Queens International Writing Workshop, going down at the Queens Library #CentralLibraryJamaica branch on Saturday, January 12 at 11AM!

After months of observing the activity of the Central branch, Jackson Heights-based artist Patrick Killoran developed a site-specific intervention that focuses on the library as a place where the idea of “searching” is embodied. In this spirit, Killoran invites visitors and library users for a unique experience of inquiry. Join @thepeoplesguideqi organizers, Brian Droitcour and Christine Wong Yap for a discussion on Killoran’s work followed by a writing workshop inspired by our relationships to discovery, community, and knowledge. #QueensMuseum #QI2018

This Thursday, January 10 at 5:30PM, join the Queens Memory team at #LangstonHughesLibrary in Corona for their Volunteers in the Vaults program to learn more about our Black Heritage Reference Collection.

Volunteers in the Vaults is a public, bi-monthly social gathering for #QueensMemory volunteers and the general public. Attendees will have the chance to discuss their ideas for #Queens-related #oralhistory projects and network with Queens Memory volunteers and staff. #LangstonHughes #BlackHistory #ItsInQueens

While I was in downtown #Flushing I had to visit the busiest @queenslibrary location in the borough. Stopping by the Flushing Library brings back so many great memories from my 11 years as a member of the Queens Library staff. One of the best parts of my job is I get to fight for all libraries every day!
