#Songoftheweek : How Soon Is Now from the album Hatful of Hollow by The Smiths. This song - which guitarist, Johnny Marr, described as The Smiths' ""most enduring record"" - is about their frontman Morrissey's shyness. It has since become an anthem for the alienated and socially isolated.
This image was captured by Terence Spencer, who documented pioneering youth culture, fashion and music throughout the 1960s and beyond. Our exhibition of his work is on at Proud Camden.

This week’s #stafffavorite was chosen by Proud intern, Nina, who likes this image because: “the contrast of the light and dark creates an intimacy between the viewer and Mick Jagger. It is evident that he is performing in this photo and I find it interesting how the crowd around him cannot be seen. For me, this image reveals how much emotion he put into his music.” #Dixiedean #mickjagger #proudgalleries #picoftheweek #therollingstones #music #photography #london #icon #instalike #instagood #instadaily #picoftheday

#onthisday in 1969 the cover image for The Beatles Abbey Road album was captured on the crossing outside Abbey Road studios. Photographer Iain MacMillan balanced on a step-ladder in the middle of the road and took six shots of John, Ringo, Paul, and George walking across the zebra crossing while a policeman held up the traffic.

This week’s #stafffavourite was chosen by Proud press intern, Holly. “I find images of self-reflection particularly interesting. Icons spend most of their time being the spectacle of others, but how do they perceive themselves? Watching someone watch themselves feels like an insight into a rare and private moment where the object becomes the observer.” #debbieharry #blondie #brianaris #proudgalleries #instagood #instalike #instadaily #picoftheday #photographer #london #music #beauty #icon
