Why the label in your clothes is absolutely pointless... Last week a client and very good friend of mine bought a swimming costume in “her size” from a well known retailer.
She was horrified by Just how SMALL the costume was and in short it made her feel pretty rubbish about her body image and self confidence.
Now she showed me photos of this costume and I tried to tell her there was NO WAY it was a “UK size 14”
I convinced her to give it to me to put on and prove to her that the sizing really is WRONG (I’m on average a “UK size 8-10)
So here I am in the size 14 swimming costume- the size I’d have to buy if I wanted to wear this item! Do you know what that does to my mindset to have gained 3 dress sizes?!? I may look like I’m “owning it” but believe me my confidence in this outfit is a big massive zero!!! My waist measurement is currently around 26 inches... look at the “UK Sizing chart”
So wrong!!! What the hell?!? In a world where shape, size , exercise fads, diet crazes and general body image is pushed at us from every angle this kind of thing is a joke!
Society has led us to believe our worth and success is based on numbers, yet the numbers are inconsistent, unreliable and damn right useless!
They say NOTHING about YOU- even less so than you believe when the numbers don’t match the guidelines they’re associated with.
So here’s the thing you’re just gonna have to guess what fits you, try it on and see... if you like it buy it, if you don’t then put it back... but that little number on the label- forget about it- it’s worthless and you ARE NOT!
Don’t let a number control you, your mood, your worth... YOU ARE AMAZING... that can’t be expressed on a label- besides just cut it out!
If retailers could actually not be so useless that would also be great.... 💁♀️ #bodyimage #bodyconfidence #dresssizes #societybullshit #youarenotanumber #knowyourworth #bodyissues #retailmistakes #itsjustanumber #labels #selfesteem #selfconfidence #noconsistency #standyourground
