"Somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good" --The Sound of Music
Wow, first I get to see the actual dress rehearsal of Hamilton and get to chat afterwards with the Tony award-winning choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler, then I serendipitously run into Derek Mitchell, the west coast resident choreographer for Hamilton and he offers to teach a master class for PopStar Booty Camp. What did I do to deserve this? Today's master class was like getting a backstage pass into the minds of these elite talented artists. Having the honor of organizing this particular master class Provided one small window into why this show is so powerful, and why they call it "The American Musical". It represents the real America (not the one 45 wants us to think it is), and this class was a perfect example of that - all of our diversity in that big studio with all our energy and spirit pulling us together through love. Thanks @derekmitchellg , for explaining the meaning of the dance in the context of this many-layered show. What a day!
