I’ve been limiting myself to just one breakfast a week at work since I’m practicing IF right now. So of course, when I do have one, I make sure that it’s fully loaded. .

I don’t IF everyday, right now I eat regularly 2 days, do a 24hr Fast twice a week, and then 18:6 the rest of the days. I like to keep my body guessing, which helps keep my metabolism revving. .

This was my breaking fast meal. I ended up stopping my fast at 28hrs. At that point, I probably should’ve just gone to bed and pushed it out to 36hrs, but I was ready to eat. .

I always feel so amazing when I fast. I don’t tend to get hungry per se, it’s still more of the mental game of regimented meal times that get me. As long as I am engaged physically and mentally, I have no problems powering through those moments. .

And no, Fasting is not the same thing as Starvation, and don’t let anyone tell you different. Fasting is a conscious decision to withhold food where as starvation is the forceful withholding of food. When I’m Fasting, I can eat whenever I want, I just choose not to. .
.
For anyone interested in Fasting, I highly recommend doing your research and taking it slow. It’s not a race. And your body will thank you for easing in to it. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a huge fan of chicken breast, it’s just kind of blah to me. So, I do what I can to spice it up. Tonight I made baked chicken stuffed with goat’s milk cheddar and bacon and topped with a tarragon gravy, and then served with sautéed green beans and, you guessed it, more bacon!!

There are 6 people living in my house, and we all eat dinner together a few nights per week. My family is not Keto, nor are they restricted from eating Gluten or Dairy, and I have no desire to be a short order cook. In general, on the nights that I’m cooking for everyone, so I focus on a meat and veggies, and usually there’s a side dish like pasta or potatoes that I just leave off of my plate. This works really well for me and keeps everyone happy. .

I mean, I know that it’s 95 degrees outside, but my office feels like to Arctic, so soup is always a good option for lunch. Soup is also super easy to make low carb if you add the right ingredients. In my case, I skip the noodles and then add lots of the good stuff. 🍲
What’s in my bowl....chicken bone broth, shredded chicken, jalapeños, diced celery, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, broccoli, cabbage, and a few drops of hot sauce for some kick. 🍲

What’s on my plate? Green leaf (my favorite) lettuce topped with seasoned ground beef, avocado, aloha peppers, pico de gallo, goat’s milk cheddar, and in place of dressing I used Salsa Verde. 🌶

There was a time in my not too distant past when I wouldn’t wear shorts in public. I use to tell myself and others that I just didn’t get hot. And that’s true, to an extent. But sometimes it’s hot. .

I never wanted to wear shorts because my legs have always been my least favorite feature. So I didn’t wear them. For years. But you know what? There’s just something about being in your 40’s. My perspective has changed. And gosh darn it, I’m going to wear shorts. .

I don’t hate my legs any less, but I do love my body more. My body carried 3 children. It’s been sick. It’s been healthy. And it’s all mine ❤️
