Back from break with sand in our shoes and bellies full of plantains and empanadas. Thank you, Puerto Rico! Hope to be back soon!

Nothing like the awesome power of Mother Nature herself to help reset the soul. Not there yet but a wee bit closer now.

BEHOLD!! Our very first attempt at making bread. (That one in front was supposed to be a braided loaf. So much for the step that instructs you to "make it look beautiful" !) This is all thanks to N's school and King Arthur Flour. We'll be donating one of the loaves to the school which will send it on to one of three local organizations used to feed the homeless and other families in need.

We're home but just one more for kicks. Love this view from the castle at Akershus (the real one, not the one at Epcot!).

Puttering around Oslo today. So much eye candy. In particular, I liked this view coming out of what Alex dubbed "the best public bathrooms in Norway."

We left Flåm today. It was a little overcast for us (even a few inches of fresh snow!) but beautiful nonetheless. Now we begin the journey home...

We are already off to Flåm but had to share this one last shot of the Bergen houses. Also, I'm in love w the scallop-shaped slate roof tiles they use here. Those wouldn't cost too much to install in Chatham, would they?...

Did you read All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr? I can't help but imagine that I'm in that little model of the neighborhood wandering around with these colorful houses. And maybe - just maybe! - if I lift up one of the houses w its gorgeous architectural details, I just might find a treasure inside...

The sky was so blue and the reflection was unbelievably clear. I feel like I should make this one into a jigsaw puzzle...

Exploring the fjords

No helmets w horns here. Guess that's just in the movies.

Leftover shot from our Australia trip: Melbourne sunset. Too bad we didn't time our visit to coincide w the Australian Open...
