This week I'll start running again. I'll do a couple of easy 5k's I think to feel how my back will respond to it. I've missed running a lot but right now it's basically just ice outside on the streets so I'll dreadmill this thing. 😂

I'll also continue my bike adventures on Zwift with the aim to do at least 70k a week. But it's hard keeping it short. Last week I did 120k and forced myself not to ride anymore. 😂

It's time again. I haven't done a FTP test in 4 years since I did ironmans in 2014. Functional Threshold Power test is basically to find out where in your current fitness your vide starts primarily using carbs as a fuel source instead of primarily fat. When that is discovered you'll set your training schedule accordingly. 😀

The test sucks though. It's 30min of semi hard riding worth a couple of sprints and then 20min of highest sustainable hard pace. Almost all out. There are more fun things. 😂

I haven't been running since new years eve, which feels kind of strange. I'm cycling and I'm active and my back is much better. Buuuuut, I'm not really comfortable getting out there on the slippery slopes again until my back gels 100%. 🙄

Even though I'm identifying myself as a runner first and foremost it's important not to make that your full identity. If you get injured or sick it might throw you down a negative spiral that'll be hard to get back out of. .
.
Instead see it as a good chance to do other things and rest that running nerve a little. Try something new and make those neurological pathways in your brain work hard with something your not used to. It's a welcomed break and you'll be back fulfilling your "basic" identity in no time. 😀

I need more of this, getting dirty. But right now I'm working on exploring the virtual universe of Zwift. I did about 30k of cycling yesterday which to my amusement is almost half my weekly goal. 👊😎

To be ready to do the distance in June when my 300k bike race is happening I need to have 750k in my legs by April. This translates to a little more than 60k a week. The next 11 weeks or so. I also think that around 1500-2000k total when toeing the starting line is needed.

Have a plan. Execute. Consistently!

Looking out the window I'm glad I took the decision to go the trainer route this winter. I would never made three distance I need in time. Aaaaaaaaand, Zwift is grrrrrreat! 😂

Until this happens again I bought a trainer. So now I'm on Zwift. 😀

I just realised I can't rely on myself to go out there in the winter to get my cycling done so I'll have a setup inside as well. I need to have around 750-1000k in my legs by April before it's warm enough to start doing long rides outside. I'll do my best to go outside now but I'll Zwift it up until that happens. 😂

Back is much better after naprapath visit yesterday and I'm allowed to start cycling a little. Yaaaay! 👊😎

Yesterday I started walking to get going again. My back is almost there and I'm slowly getting back to moving but at the moment I'm watching this carefully. 🤔

It's always too easy being too fast back on track. And this time I want to be sure my back is fully healed before starting any real effort again. There's a thin line between being fully healed and continuously having back issues this year. 😀

I'm ok of it takes one more week. But if it takes 2 I'll get itchy. 😂
