1/4 cup flat parsley
1 tbsp tarragon
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp water
1 tsp salt / pepper

I like to blend the avocado, Greek yogurt, and garlic first, and then add the herbs to finish it off so there's still some green flecks in it. serve this beauty with veggies, chips, or any other summery dippers!

3 tablespoons almond butter
1 tablespoon olive oil

½ tablespoon raw honey
½ teaspoon garlic

shake in a jar:
1/4 c soy sauce (tamari for gf)
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp sesame seeds

toss with:
1/2 lb tuna, tofu, or any sushi grade fish, cut into cubes
3 green onions, sliced
1/2 jalapeño, minced
.
marinate for a while (10 minutes minimum) and serve with rice, avocado, green onion, sesame seeds and spicy mayo! sushi dreams coming true.

if you're going with tuna, a) YAY 😍 and b) make sure to find a good grocery that carries high quality, sushi grade fish. here in Minneapolis/St. Paul we got ours from @coastalseafoodsmn. I think Whole Foods usually has a pretty decent selection, too. 👌🏼

power lunch! detox rainbow collard wraps ⭐️🌈 with curry hummus and peanut sauce along with a rainbow of veggies and some peanuts / cilantro / lime, and garlic chili paste if you're sassy. admittedly I use toothpicks to hold them together cause otherwise they bomb all over everything, but even still. wows. desk lunch game strong this week.

FOOD PROCESSOR:
3 cups cauliflower florets
2 cups walnuts
2 (single) chipotles in adobo
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
generous hit of salt and lime juice

spread the mixture on a baking sheet / bake for 15 minutes at 350. stir and bake another 15 minutes. assemble in bowls with your favorite taco fixings - such as pico, roasty corn and black bean salsa, and guac.

asparagus noodles! 🦄 no but wait, ASPARAGUS NOODLES. just shave/peel your asparagus into long ribbons with a peeler, like fettuccine, sauté super quick and voila, you're magic.

2 pounds jumbo asparagus
1/4 cup pesto (more to taste)
cooked, crumbled bacon
cooked peas
grated Pecorino Romano cheese

peel your asparagus into noodles, saute in a hot pan for just 30-ish seconds - you want it to still be kinda crispy, and top with pesto, bacon, peas and cheese.

½ cup walnuts (can sub almonds)
¾ cup olive oil
½ cup water
½ cup basil
½ cup parsley
1 clove garlic
juice of two lemons
1 teaspoon salt

blend dressing ingredients and mix with 2 cups of brown rice and/or quinoa and 2 cups of cooked chicken.

then wrap in a collard leaf (stem trimmed down - makes it easier to roll and eat) with tomatoes and avocado and feel that glowww. ✨⭐️✨

On January 1st, 2017, I held my first and only son, Afton, as he died in my arms. He was just one day old. Today would have been / was my first Mother's Day as a mom.

In the spirit of not just faking my way through posting another recipe, today I want to acknowledge all those for whom Mother's Day delivers grief as a Love Souvenir. Today I am celebrating the love and light of moms everywhere while also holding those who hurt close in my heart, because I'm right there with you. I'm in your club this year.
.

Earlier this week I wrote a post about how to support friends who have lost a baby, and to be honest I was unsure about sharing it on IG, because as this account grows, so does the number of people who don't know our personal story. But then @real_simple reached out and asked if they could syndicate my post as a special piece for Mother's Day, and that gave me confidence and reminded me that grief finds us all, food-loving instagrammers included, and I'm not going to win any awards by pretending this day isn't hard for me.

We all know someone - that friend has lost their child, the one whose dream for a family is falling apart, or the one who is navigating Mother's Day without their mom. The one must-do thing is to just acknowledge their pain and the fact that they are bravely walking forward without a piece of their heart. You can literally say: "I want to acknowledge how hard today must have been for you."
.
