Elena  Welcome to my page about New York. I post my daily pictures of the city we love. I also share those who tag me.

We’re having a spring preview in New York today, so please get out and enjoy it if you can! Meanwhile , here’s few fun facts about Flatiron Building...
Due to an oversight in the original design, there were no bathrooms for ladies when the building first opened, so the men’s and women’s bathrooms are now on alternating floors.
The pointed end of the building is only 6,5 feet wide and opens up to an acute angle of roughly 25 degrees.
On the ground floor of the triangular front is a free window-like exhibition, known as the Sprint Flatiron Prow Artspace.

The Plaza was opened in 1907 when the first guest, Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, was signed in by a grand welcoming committee. F. Scott Fitzgerald, who lived there with his wife, Zelda, in the 1920s, was advised by Ernest Hemingway to give his liver to Princeton and his heart to the Plaza. Fitzgerald set some scenes in the Great Gatsby at the hotel.
Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Guggenheim Museum while living in suite 223 at the Plaza in the 1950s, the Beatles stayed there on their first visit to America in 1964, and Truman Capote gave his legendary Black and White Ball at the Plaza in 1966.
Kay Thompson lived at the hotel while writing Eloise, her classic children’s tale published in 1955 about a little girl who lives on the top floor of the Plaza.

“He adored New York City. He idolized it all out of proportion...no, make that: he - he romanticized it all out of proportion. Yeah. To him, no matter what the season was, this was still a town that existed in black and white and pulsated to the great tunes of George Gershwin.'”

“I love snow for the same reason I love Christmas: It brings people together while time stands still. Cozy couples lazily meandered the streets and children trudged sleds and chased snowballs. No one seemed to be in a rush to experience anything other than the glory of the day, with each other, whenever and however it happened.”

“Well, I know now. I know a little more how much a simple thing like a snowfall can mean to a person.”

“...tears and rain are the same thing, they're meant to wash you clean and make you grow. If you don't let them out, you'll drown inside.”
