This day will forever hold a special place in my heart. After a hefty struggle in the snow and ice to just to get to this spot, and pushing through the pain barrier of the cold to stay here through the night, I was rewarded with seeing my first ever aurora show - and it was simply magical. I felt like a kid again, constantly spinning around to watch the lights dance across the night sky. I've never been in such awe of nature and I can't wait to come back!
Probably the best thing about being stuck inside during a two day snow storm was that it was staying here. Cheers to Anita of Anita's Sjømat for letting me stay here and feeding me some damn good fish burgers! @canonaustralia 5Dmkiv & 16-35mm
Had a bit of a love-hate relationship with snow up in Lofoten. Snow storms prevented me from going out for two days, but when it did clear I was given views like these! Seems like a fair deal in the end
After a week of snow and heavy cloud, I finally get a morning with some of that incredible artic light, which also happened to be the last morning of my trip. Almost slept in too, exhausted from the previous day's hike and a night of aurora hunting. Stoked that I didn't!! @canonaustralia 5Dmkiv & 16-35mm @leefilters Big Stopper
The current holder of my favourite place in the world, views were unbelievable and made that much better with the soft Arctic light.
Although, getting up here was one hell of a struggle. Completely misjudged how deep the snow would be and how icy it'd be at the top. Also, severely underestimated how cold it would get at night as we waited for the Aurora to rock up (those shots coming in future posts). On a positive note, cut out a good 15 - 20min off the hike back down by sliding on my arse. #goodtimes
Can't believe it's already been a week since I spent the day hiking up Ryten for sunset, getting caught out in a snow storm at the top and having to leg it back down the mountain to the safety of the car. Then gunning it back to Hamnoy in time to chase the aurora before the clouds came in. Needless to say, I slept like a rock when it was all done.
Just got back from a couple weeks in Northern Norway. Snow storms and heavy cloud cover made chasing the light somewhat challenging and frustrating. This particular night we had a 1 hour break in the clouds which gave us a small window of opportunity, before another snow storm swept through the islands. @canonaustralia 5Dmkiv & 16-35mm
