Me and zig are fresh back from a week in the woods of New Hampshire, where we were lucky to be invited as guest artists to teach at Beam Camp. I led classes on Zen Buddhism and Campfire Cooking (we called it "Tin Foil Chef") and generally had one of the best weeks of my life. No phone service, access to wood, metal and ceramics shops, surrounded by smart creative people who were glad to show me how to mess around with whatever project I got myself into - not to mention all the hilarious, sweet, genius kids. I had my zen students punch the lake (a lesson in "being like water") and we traipsed around studying Wabi Sabi leaf patterns. We baked eggs inside of potatoes and made pineapple upsidedown cakes on the open fire. I made a bench out of scrap, "fabricated" some pry bars (that I now have to figure out how to temper), handbuilt some pots (with a pit firing in mind that went horribly wrong 😂) and rowed a sketchy lil boat out to pick wild blueberries on an island. Major shout out to @orangepopsiclesandlemonade for giving us the opportunity - THANK YOU ZENA, CANT WAIT TO BE BACK!!!
