I've always been pretty low key about my skincare. I've been a cetaphil girl for as long as I can remember - my skin always did best the less I did to it. I maybe only upgraded to aveda facial moisturizer in my 30s ๐Ÿ˜‚ But I've felt between the inevitable passage of time, the SoCal sun, and my more intensified exercise routine, that I could use an upgrade. Happy Sunday lovelies! It's part one of our #YTT final exams today ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿค“! Submitting our written final and taking our anatomy oral exam. After today all that will be left is to teach our final practicum in a few weeks and we'll all be yoga teachers ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜

Seems like the perfect time to answer @z_khawaja tag to share how I started yoga! .
I first took a yoga class when I finished college and was looking for something non-gym-like to do at the gym. I liked it a lot but then discovered I had bruised two bones in my wrist simply from holding myself up in downdog and plank. I have soft cartilage in my joints and basically concluded of yoga "well that's fun, but I can't do that." Ten years later, looking for something to help with physical and mental health during grad school, I let a friend drag me to a yoga class again, even tho I told her I couldn't do yoga because of my wrists. At first I did notice some wrist pain coming back, but having much more body awareness at that stage of my life (hello 30s Sascha vs 20s Sascha) I modified and adjusted and worked to strengthen the muscles needed to not injure myself. Once I realized I could actually do yoga, I got hooked. I discovered IG yoga and challenges, and made myself this account on my birthday 2.5 years ago, and started my daily practice. And now I'm three weeks away from becoming a #yogateacher! Crazy how things work out. If you had told me that I would be doing this three years ago I would have given you these faces for sure ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธNow tagging some older and newer friends to share their stories @allykborn and @yogi_liza when they have the chance!

We had pranayama for today's #YTT We'd been asked to come on an empty stomach, no food less than 4 hours before. Workshop started at noon. We didn't get a break until 4pm. Needless to say that meant there were lots of hungry yogis! Luckily today was the day I brought @hippeas_snacks to class for everyone to try. These got scarfed FAST. Everyone agreed these were delicious and we all traded flavors to try them all out. .

Another one for #forearmfriday on a Saturday looking at progress in what is currently my favorite inversion #pinchamayurasana It's good to look back at this and remind myself of the struggle and journey I had in #pincha On the left is two years ago while I was doing my field research in Ramallah and I was struggling to get holds off the wall. Flash to now where I feel strong and steady in a variety of leg variations (need to work on that lotus pincha!) and can get up and into it with... maybe not ease... but with an ease of confidence (and some warming up of those shoulders!). This is particularly good reminder as I look at the long journey I'm currently having with #handstand - a reminder that #practiceandalliscoming really is true. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโค๏ธ #phdyogiprogress #inversion #yogaprogress .
