PGA Championship  One of the strongest fields in major championship golf, the 100th #PGAChamp will be played August 6-12, 2018 at Bellerive! ⛳️

1938 - Paul Runyan stunned Sam Snead and most of the golf world by winning a second PGA Championship by an 8 and 7 margin. Runyan finished 24-under par and also accurately forecast the humid weather. He prepared for his final match against Snead by taking ice baths.

1937 – Denny Shute won his second consecutive PGA Championship in overtime, defeating Harold “Jug” McSpaden 1 up, in 37 holes. Trailing by three holes, Shute found his stride by one-putting nine of the next 13 holes, squaring the match and going 3 up after 18 holes.

1936 – Outdriven by as much as 60 yards on many holes, Denny Shute used his irons and putter to turn back Jimmy Thomson, and win the title, 3 and 2.

1935 - Johnny Revolta took control with a birdie to win the first hole of his PGA Championship match against 1930 Champion Tommy Armour and never trailed.

1934 - Paul Runyan defeated his former instructor, Craig Wood, 1 up, in 38 holes.
Both golfers had 12-foot par putts on the 36th green. PGA President George Jacobus was called to measure each player’s distance from the hole. Runyan made his putt and Wood followed. #PGA100

Look who’s made their way to the floor of the @nyse!👀🏆🏆

1933 - Tommy Armour, who wasn’t in the field, told a reporter that Gene Sarazen was “all washed up as a championship contender.” Sarazen captured his third PGA Championship and said to the crowd, “Pretty good for a washed up golfer.” #PGA100

1932 - Olin Dutra won his first major championship.
However, the runner up – Frank Walsh – had the more remarkable story. Seven months earlier, Walsh suffered a fractured skull and could not swing a golf club for eight weeks. #PGA100

1931 - First-time competitor Tom Creavy became the 2nd youngest PGA Champion defeating Gene Sarazen who is still the youngest ever to win the PGA Championship.

1930 - Native Scot Tommy Armour defeated Gene Sarazen 1 up, to become the last European-born PGA Champion until Ireland’s Padraig Harrington in 2008.

DID YOU KNOW: 1930 - past Champions were not exempt at the time, and five-time winner Walter Hagen, Jim Barnes and Jock Hutchison failed to advance past Sectional qualifying. #PGA100

As most know, my mom is there every step of the way and I’m very lucky for that. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, but especially to mine for being there thru the ups and down! Not many moms would want to spend their day watching their son play golf, but knowing you there’s not many places you’d rather be. Love you Mom! 💪🏽👩‍👦 @janibjustin
