What an uplifting week!
You know that feeling you get when you surround yourself with ambitious, successful, caring people who are smarter than you? Just being in their presence inspires, challenges and elevates your thinking. —— This week my team (fam) and I had the privilege of interviewing three top executives at The Dwyer Group. I am conducting research for a new book I am working on, for my Keynote talks and for my coaching practice. —— First I had a conversation with Mike Bidwell, CEO of The Dwyer Group about the importance of intentionally guiding the culture of your organization and the amazing outcomes that are the result of a unified team all working towards a shared vision. (Mike knows a thing or two about producing results!) I spoke with Mary Thompson COO about the leadership lessons she has learned over the years, both as a USMC commander and as a business executive. She spoke about what happens when there is trust within a team and gave me a glimpse into the concepts in the book she is writing “The Art of Joyful Leadership”. (Can’t wait to read it)
I also had some awesome conversations with Dina Dwyer-Owens, co-chair of the board and past CEO, while mountain biking, boating and exploring her home town of Waco Texas together. We spoke about the importance of having clear strong values in business in family life and in every area of your life. —— The Dwyer Group is one of the world’s largest service-based franchise companies with 800 home office employees, 3500 franchisees doing almost $2 billion in services at homes and businesses in 9 countries.
They are well known and respected for their code of values which permeates the entire organization from the office of the CEO to the front line team members. —— Thank you Mike, Mary and Dina for taking the time to meet with me and for sharing your extensive knowledge and wisdom. —— If you are looking to create a better workplace for your team or for yourself, stay tuned ... I can’t wait to share everything I’ve learned with you! —— Tag a friend who loves learning about leadership, culture and employee engagement.
