Three cheers for more streetcars coming in 2020 🎉🎉🎉

@streetroots Vendor Program Director Cole Merkel took some time to tell us what BIKETOWN for All means to the Street Roots community. 🚲🧡🚲🧡🚲🧡
"Before Pay It Forward was an option through BIKETOWN, $3 was a lot of money to come up with. It may not seem like a lot to a lot of folks in our community, but for people who are just striving to survive $3 can be a lot for someone who's experiencing homelessness. So having Pay It Forward as an option where vendors and BIKETOWN for All members now get a free membership to start with is huge. It really opens the door for them to start riding immediately. And then to earn money by re-balancing bikes, taking them back to stations to be able to have a free membership throughout their entire time with BIKETOWN for All. It's been a great asset for our community and I know it will be for the greater Portland community as well."
Looking for a way to give this holiday season? Spread the @biketownpdx love through the Pay it Forward campaign. Learn how at the link in our bio.

This just in, Fixing Our Streets base repair project on SE 17th Ave completed five days ahead of schedule!
Crews excavated 204 cubic yards of failed asphalt and replaced the road base with 98 cubic yards of compacted rock, poured 28 yards of concrete for the new bus pad, placed 98 tons of asphalt for a new road surface of 8” and restriped the street.
Thank you to the community for your patience as we work to fix our streets.

Today we're celebrating @chloeeudalypdx and PBOT Interim Director Chris Warner cutting the ribbon on the newly-completed SE 50th Paving Project, funded by Fixing Our Streets. 50th Ave was repaved from SE Division to SE Hawthorne to prevent further pavement deterioration. The work also updated all street corners that did not meet ADA standards to improve overall street accessibility.
Over the course of the paving work, we removed 109-year-old trolley tracks that were underneath the southbound section of the roadway!

The Fixing Our Streets program, paid for by a local gas tax approved by Portland voters in May 2016 and a heavy vehicle use tax, is Portland’s first street repair and traffic safety program financed with local funding.
