Zoom out. Going out into the world and seeing things much larger and more grandiose than you will ever be allows you the chance to feel small and insignificant. Realizing that it takes millions of years for structures to be formed teaches you patience and resilience. Realizing that your life is small in comparison will allow you to step back and slow down. It can show you that you aren't supposed to have all the answers. It will show you that every situation isn't an emergency. It can teach you how to enjoy a beautiful life. It'll remind you that your problems are not so big. It can show you that when you are struggling to be grateful because you know deep down that your going to learn from this experience.

I've spent the majority of the past 10 years getting validation from my physical aesthetic. I've learned that I'm at my physical leanest when the rest of my life has chaos. I use my body image as a way to control external circumstances that I feel are out of my current grasp (finances, relationships, etc). For me, training and nutrition are incredibly easy and have become my default. Connecting with others can be tough, so creating a barrier around what you will and will not accept is an easy way out.

I'm not saying any of this is wrong or right. I'm just explaining when you are setting goals, it's important to know and understand your goals intimately and not just choose what seems appealing to the rest of the world. It's also important to understand the costs on your investment and what your return will actually be.

Today was supposed to be percentage work with doubles, but it felt good so I ended up tying my Front Squat PR for a single for a double. This was 385#. Looking for 405 for a single in a week or two!

#TBT to earlier December at the Alpine Weightlifting Meet. I've been enjoying focusing on weightlifting the past couple months. It's felt like playing with a new toy. It's a whole new challenge, which has kept the gym fun for the past couple weeks.

When you are in the gym, it's important to have a goal. Goal setting can keep you accountable in the short and long term in the gym. It doesn't have to be about going to the CrossFit Games, Olympics, Nationals, etc... It can simply be something as training for a local 5K or fun run. Set a goal, accomplish it and onto your next one.
