Aftermath. A violent 18th century eruption created this 25km long volcanic fissure. The aftermath caused a drop in global temperatures, and left the lands ash covered and desolate. Lakagígar is considered one of the most remarkable geological remnants of the world.
Life on Mars. The geothermal landscape of Kerlingarfjöll is easily among my favorite spots in Iceland. Endless trails of steam explode out of the ground, surrounding the mountains in a cloudlike shroud of white.
