If you have a routine, try to stick to it. Drink water. Sleep. Go to that class you normally take. Keep the appointment you feel like cancelling. For me, when my anxiety kicks in or I’m going through something rough, I stop eating. So I have to be aware of that, and I have to make myself sit and have something (preferably healthy and not just comfort food). Whatever it is that your stress response makes you think you can’t or shouldn’t do, do it anyway. It feels counter-intuitive, but you’re retraining your brain to not freak out. You’re convincing it that you are, in fact, safe. It might be a little uncomfortable at first, but it works.
