My phone rang. It was my old near & dear, tried & true, ride or die friend Natalie. She said ‘you are in Jamaica! You are staying 15 minutes away from me! I am coming to get you.’ And so she did. I spent the whole day in Moneague at the very top of the mountain, hanging out with some beautiful & kind human beings, talking about my PhD research & getting some profound tips on my applications. The very reason I came to Jamaica was to reflect on/heal from the events of the past couple of weeks & to work on my PhD applications due in January. I have been working on fine-tuning my topic. This is what I have from today’s session: An Autoethnography of the Anitafrika Method: Self-Recovery, Performance Training & Devising in the Queer Black Feminist Art of D’bi Young Anitafrika. It’s long I know. Working with titles helps me to clarify the nature & scope of the work that I am doing. More to come.
Happy New Year my Queen. I wish I was with you in JA. I see you are applying for your PhD soon. I am unbelievably proud of you. We are so aligned and on the same journey of excellence. I love you so so so much and can’t WAIT to hug you tight. Thank you for being in my life 😘❤️
