“Ward Hall,” Plantation in Georgetown, Ky. This mansion was commissioned by Junius Richard Ward in 1857, possibly designed by architect Thomas Lewinski. The mansion was built as a summer residence; their plantation house, located near Leota Landing, Washington County, Mississippi, served as their winter residence. Ward Hall is a 3 bay, 3 pile Greek Revival raised on an English basement. The facade features four Corinthian columns and six engaged pilasters. Its unusual parapet roof features a lantern at the axis. A three-story spiral staircase traverses all three floors of the building. The basement of the building was primarily used as service rooms. In its first condition, the property featured an ice house, smoke house, barns and other outbuildings. For more information, visit wardhall.net The property is open for tours on special dates. #mansion #plantation #history #historicalhouse #housemuseum #preservation #wardhall #kentucky #kentuckykicksass #plantationhomes #columns #architecture #antiques #southernplantation #ky #georgetownky #visitthelex #visitlouisville #louisvilleky #historicpreservation #greekrevival #beautiful #facade #oldmansion #historicmansion #decay #abandoned #americanarchitecture #greek #thisplacematters
