Week 1 of our meet the students!
This week we have Henry Durie who is one our Engineering Placement students.
Course: MEng Mechanical Engineering with a Year in Industry
Why I chose to complete a placement year: I wanted to gain significant real life working experience, and the chance to use the knowledge I have gained through my course on real life projects. I wanted to gain skills that would be a real asset during individual research projects as well as group design projects in my final two years at University. It also provided a break from education for a year, something I felt I really needed.
Why Xtrac: I chose Xtrac because they are the leading company in their field, providing innovative solutions to a wide range of customers. I wanted the opportunity to learn from their engineers, and work on some of the very interesting projects that they are part of.
What I want to get out of this year: This year I aim to broaden my knowledge of practical engineering, how to apply what I have learnt through education to actual work projects, considering all aspects, including manufacturing as well as the commercial side of the designs. I also aim to improve my time management and communication skills, skills necessary to be successful at work and elsewhere.
If you would like to have the same great experiences as Henry head to our website to apply:
The closing date for applications is the 5th November so please don't put off applying.
