Oooh, how long have you got? πŸ˜‰ Economics πŸ’· to see whether ppl would like it πŸ‘ to get some reviews/feedback β€οΈπŸ’” because I’ve heard a lot of agents like a track record... πŸ“š

I went down the self-publishing route because I wanted to save myself the headache of looking for an agent and then trying to work with a publisher. I may go that route in the future, but for now, I'll stick with indie-publishing ❀️

Many reasons but mostly because I am able to control every aspect, the editing, the cover design, setting my own deadlines etc. I may submit to agents one day but for now I’m enjoying the indie route πŸ‘

@susanj.barrett oh really? But not very fair for first time authors! πŸ€”

  • 5w ago madelinewilsonojo madelinewilsonojo

@author_j.m.ivie a lot of other indie authors have echoed these sentiments.

  • 5w ago madelinewilsonojo madelinewilsonojo

@lindseypowellperfect Yes, I am fearful of losing control.

@madelinewilsonojo I guess they’re just mitigating the risk of investing in an unknown?

I like how the publishing just happens. I can publish a story as soon as it’s ready to go. And when the book is out, I don’t have to stress over only having X copies, violating license agreements, etc. It’s nice and simple. I am hybrid tho, so I done know if my reasons are practical. How about you? Why did you choose it?

A couple reasons - I tried going down the traditional publishing route, but got a ton of rejections. I researched self publishing and decided I liked the process because I had full creative control.

I don't want my story to be changed by others for the sake of conforming

@jlperidot hmmm...Thanks for your detailed response. I'm rounding up the last edits of my debut novel and although I've known for a long time I wanted to go Indie (for the most common reasons - ease, cost etc.), I'm becoming uncertain of my choice. Call it 'cold feet'πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

@frustratedmillennialbook and you created something so beautiful!

  • 4w ago madelinewilsonojo madelinewilsonojo

@twolovebirds245 Yes. That's one of the most common reasons

Honestly, I started looking at the publishing options on Amazon, saw I could do it easily, I took a manuscript that had been sitting in a drawer, threw it out now expecting anything and now, I'm working on my second one. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  • 4w ago madelinewilsonojo madelinewilsonojo

@michelleleighmiller_author I love it! I'm honestly pleased I found this community. I'm encouraged! Was previously feeling a bit insecure about my manuscript.

  • 4w ago michelleleighmiller_author michelleleighmiller_author

@madelinewilsonojo Yes! I've been pleasantly surprised with the community here as well. 😁

@madelinewilsonojo oh gosh, I suppose you never know for sure until it’s done. (I have to re-come to terms with that for every project πŸ˜‚) Best of luck with the launch! What’s your story about?
