Did you know I only do 1 “workout” per week? The rest of my mileage is EASY. My EASY pace is about 2 min per mile slower than a recent 5k race. Building back a strong aerobic base is KEY for success in distance running. I often see runners train too fast then on race day are left confused at the finish. TRAIN SMARTER NOT HARDER. Train using the paces you are at currently not the paces you “want to be at”. Unsure of your fitness? Then find a race or do a time trial. Each run has a purpose!

2 mi warm up
5 x 2 min 6:20, 6:03, 6:07, 6:04, 5:57 (2 min easy between)
6 min easy
5 x 1 min 5:49, 5:50, 5:59, 5:39 (2 min easy between)
2 mi cool down
It was really hot and uncomfortable today. It felt HARD, but I’m pumped to see these paces because it’s the fastest I’ve ever ran on the road for this type of workout! 🙌🏻🔥 Workouts are supposed to feel hard! Each one makes you stronger. Excited for torchlight 5k next Wednesday night. !
