It's tuesday and we are still raining #kente (because yes we can!) • • • √ Kente comes from the Akan word 'kenten' which means basket. √ Legend has it that kente was first made by two Akan friends who observed a spider making it's web in the forest. They watched for two days and returned home and implemented what they had seen. √ Kente is made from thin strips of silk inter-woven together on narrow looms in horizontal and vertical patterns. √ ln the past, only kings, dignitaries amd influential persons wore kente because it was seen to be an attire for the wealthy. √ Kente is comtemporarily viewed as a symbol of the African continent.
So there you have it! Stay fine in that kente and keep on writing history!
