We’re obsessed with this shot from adventure photographer @krystlejwright, whose work is featured in our April 2018 issue. Wright told us that on this trip, she mostly shot at or below water level. To see things differently, she climbed up the mast.

“Sometimes I run to disappear. From both the world and myself. Of course, the beautiful irony is that the more you succeed in getting lost and in losing yourself, the more you find. I spent much of this trip in the Austrian alps running away from heart break; from the stress of social pressures to conform, to quit sports and become a doctor or a lawyer like my parents. But once you get to the top of the peak, those pressures fade away. The burden lifts, and you gain clarity. How lucky we are to breathe on this beautiful planet!” —@aplevene | 📸: @photographer_michael_mueller

And it’s not just corporate America that has a gender pay gap. The outdoor industry has plenty of work to do itself.
