Outstanding In The Field  We are Outstanding In The Field: Serving from table to farm across the country and globe.

West Sonoma wonderful. Perfect day. Perfect Weather. Outstanding server Claire with a salad of foraged Mendocino seaweed, Faurot Ranch radishes, crispy buckwheat and pine nut butter by OITF guest chef Hiroo Nagahara.
More than 200 adventurous diners made the 18 minute walk from the pond side Heaven and Earth vineyard up a very steep hill to reach the extraordinarily challenging and quite stunningly beautiful dining site. A huge thanks to the West Sonoma Coast Vintners Association for bringing the very best of the West to this unforgettable table! .

Last Sunday, we set our table along the Soquel Creek at Everett Family Farm in Santa Cruz, California. Many thanks to the Everetts; Emily and her team on the farm; Chef Ross Hanson (pictured at our long table) of Oak & Rye; New Bohemia Brewery; Joyce Vineyards; and the whole OITF Crew!!! 📸@lgchefphillipe

Big Sur. A dream of a day! With table and chairs in tow we climbed the mountain and found a sunny flat spot out of the wind. One of the most spectacular OITF events ever. Thank you to our hosts Susie and John Moon of Big Sur Natural Beef Company; Brett Cooper and his team from @aster_sf in San Francisco; Jared and Tracey from @donkeyandgoat; Jesse from @almanacbeer; the OITF crew; and everyone else involved in making our event in Big Sur event so beautiful!

Our first table of the season this past Saturday at Markegard Ranch. Only 87 more to go! Next up is the magic and majesty of the legendary Big Sur. From up high our OITF table will look out over the entire Pacific.

Jim Denevan founder of OITF, our chef for the evening along with Erik Markegard, 6th generation San Mateo county rancher. Erik runs the spectacularly beautiful Markegard Family Grass Fed with wife Doniga. We gathered the 160 guests and Doniga gave a beautiful inspirational welcome speech. The ranch is located on a stunning 7,000 acre property overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Erik and Doniga practice regenerative agriculture which involves thoughtful care of both land and animals. Among the animals we visited on our path to the table on a green grassy promontory were the gorgeously dressed black and white Belted Galloway cows, AKA Oreo cookie cows.
It was a cool and breezy day on the ranch but we were able to provide our guests with shelter from the wind and plenty of blankets as needed.

We are profoundly thankful to all the folks that helped make it happen: Muriel, Haley, Larry, Lea, Suey, Eden, AnnaLisa, Seth, Colin, Matt, Mark, Zack, Phanie, Emily, Liz, Stella, Justin, Zachry, Bianca, Sam, Marianna, Anna, Joe, Liana, Quince, Quill, and Suzanna! .

Farmers are rockstars and we celebrated them @Coachella this past weekend! So much great produce from County Line South and Sage Mountain Farm, so many great chefs, so many great people at the table. We'll be back there this weekend to do it all again 😻Are you coming? .

Our big red and white bus is parked. Our long table is set.
We're back for the 4th year to host guests @Coachella!!!

We're heading to Coachella next week to celebrate some of the rock stars of the culinary world! #coachella2017 Thanks for the great video @foodsteez

Each year we start and end the season in the San Francisco Bay Area where Outstanding in the Field was started.
This year, we will set the table in the grassy fields at Markegard Family Grass-Fed in Pescadero, CA with host ranchers Doniga and Erik Markegard on Saturday, May 6th.
As is tradition, OITF Founder @jimdenevan will prepare the first meal of the season. He may also manage to get down to the beach (viewable from the cliff on the ranch) during low tide to create one of his beautiful sand drawings!
There are still a few tickets available for this event and we hope you can join us! bit.ly/OITFMarkegardHMB

Thank You! Thank you for your patience. Thank you for supporting what we do. Thank you to everyone that bought tickets today! It was a real humdinger. Enough of a humdinger to cause the site to crash for 25 minutes or so. If you had trouble in that first half hour and your purchase was frustrating, send us an email and we will see what we can do. For all of us at Outstanding in the Field, it is such an honor to travel the countryside, singing praises of farmer and chef and our connection to the land.
We can't wait to see you at the table! 😍the OITF Crew

Tickets for our 80+ new events go on sale tomorrow morning, Monday, March 20th (the first day of Spring!!!) Link in bio.
