Beth Johnson  Origami artist from Ann Arbor, Michigan. All works posted here are my original origami designs.

Circus elephant. Which trunk do you prefer - left or right? Thought I’d try a spiral on the trunk (the one on the left) but not sure I like it better 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m working on diagramming some models and revisiting some older designs.

Goldfish, new variation with color change eyes. Heading to Centerfold Origami Convention in Columbus, OH this weekend, where I’ll be teaching this model, along with my deer and circus elephant. Hope to see some familiar faces! #origami #paper #paperart #bethjohnsonorigami #goldfish

Some origami cover art I made for the latest issue of @shortlistmagazine. Reposting from @kevin_fay.

Goldfish, new design. One uncut hexagon. I have several variations I’m playing around with. The eyes use the same technique as the stellated octahedron I recently posted. #bethjohnsonorigami #origami #design #paper #paperart #paperartist

More variations of the triangle twist tetrahedron. All are one sheet, the yellow is folded from a rectangle, the others are from a hexagon.

New design: Dual tetrahedron, folded from a single sheet (hexagon). Solid color on the right, and color change version on the left. After exploring some representational designs with this twist pattern, I discovered this model (usually it’s the other way around!). This is one of those designs that I feel like may already exist, though I can’t find anything similar. Anyone know of something like this?

Some new owls for an upcoming exhibition. I always prefer showing models in pairs :)

Circus Elephant, refold of an older model. I’m getting some pieces ready for an exhibition, and trying to simplify packing and shipping by folding some smaller pieces and using paper bases. So I tried using tetrahedron base instead of the wooden icosahedron I used on the older version, and I’m really happy with the result. When I fold something new, I often get too attached...and now I don’t want to send it out for the exhibition! 😂

Laguna de Guatavita, June 2018. The birthplace of the El Dorado legend. A sacred place for the Muisca people, who presented gold to the gods by throwing it into the lake (well, much more involved than that). People still have not been able to find the bottom of the lake, and no one knows exactly how the lake was formed.

Off to Bogota tomorrow! Thank you to Origami Bogota for the invitation 🙏😘

Kyoto day two, so many temples and shrines, so little time!
