A few weeks ago, late night/ early morning, I ran over to the coast, swinging by and picking up Tyler and his friend Carreina, for a quick drive up to Cape P. Our plans of taking some beach pics with the Milky Way soon came to a screeching halt when the clouds really started moving in. We continued on, hoping they'd break, but knowing they were fairly heavy. On the way, we decided to pull off at Strawberry Hill and try and make it down to the beach. This trail will take you down some rocks to just above the sand, on a low tide... It wasn't low tide, so we set up on the rocks just above the beach. Keep in mind, it was a new moon, with some good cloud cover, leaving us in total darkness when our headlamps were out. After snapping a few pics we continued on to the overlook. By the time we got there it was completely cloudy, so we goofed off and watched a few cars zip by on the curves below. I was doubtful the pics from our trip were going to be worth spending any time with, but was thankful to get some extra time with the kiddos. I finally had a chance to look through the pics and this one jumped out to me. It was also the kids' favorite... I'm glad we stopped at Strawberry Hill on the way up!
