On #AshWednesday, we begin this holy season of Lent with a day of #fasting and #abstinence. Through our steadfast observance during these forty days, may we be cleansed of our sins and renewed in our commitment to follow Christ so that we may worthily celebrate the Paschal mystery.

Only a few spots left! Register today for our next #ComeandSee #Discernment Weekend at vocations@opwest.org.

On February 13, we celebrate the Memorial of Bl. #JordanofSaxony, OP (c. 1185-1237), patron of #Dominicanvocations. While studying in Paris, he entered the Order in 1220. Upon the death of St. Dominic, the friars elected him Master of the Order. He guided the brothers and sisters by his preaching, example, letters, redaction of the Constitutions, frequent visitations, and his singular compassion. More than 1,000 novices were attracted to the Order during his tenure of office. Through his intercession, may the Lord continue to bless us with holy vocations to our Dominican way of life.

The 2018 Southern Tour continues! After visiting our communities in Los Angeles and Mexicali, the novices are now on their way to St. Thomas More Church and Newman Center in Tucson, AZ, where they'll be sharing their stories on Feb. 11.

Lent is almost here! Did you know the Pope usually spends Ash Wednesday with the Dominicans in Rome? Learn more about the tradition and its history at opwest.org/asheswiththepope on this #websitewednesday.
