Chicken Bus  I ❤️🌎. To quote Whitesnake, "I don't know where I'm going but I sure know where I've been" on the chickenbus. 📷These are my pics.

It's Dewey Decimal System Day! It's also the day the first film of the Lord of the Rings trilogy was released. If you are just getting around to reading the books the Dewey Decimal classification is 823.9 check your local library. You may find it at the stunning Peabody Library but they don't loan, these books are just for looks. I do love looking at books #deweydecimalsystemday #peabodylibrary #myprecious

December 9th is the Day of the Horse! Love these shorty Icelandic horses, I'll take one in every color. These particular ones are not wild horses, but it's almost impossible not to sing 'wild horses' when they start running. #nationaldayofthehorse #iceland #rollingstones

Today is Lost and Found day! I lost two SD cards the last couple months and I was so blue, I hadn't backed all of the pictures up yet. But, there was a Thanksgiving miracle and one of the cards was found! Without which I might never have had this picture again. So lucky, right? #lostandfound #fusterland #havanaoohnana

It's International Civil Aviation Day! Also, December 7, 1972, the Apollo 17 crew takes a picture of earth known as The Blue Marble. This is my own "blue marble portion" picture flying over Greenland. It's as much into space as I hope to go. And, surely, we should thank pilots for making international air travel possible today and everyday. #bluemarble #civilaviationday #dontcallmeshirley

It's Miner's Day! The Wieliczka salt mines are most impressive with underground museums, lakes, salt statues and especially the chapel. We took the tourist route but there is a miners route where you can work as a miner. So you can pay to work in a mine! Our visit was very impressive but it hasn't been long enough to forget out how my legs hurt after walking down 800 steps. #wieliczkasaltmine #poland #feelingsalty

December 5th is National Sacher Torte day! Sacher Torte is a Viennese, dense chocolate cake with thin layers of apricot jam served with whipped cream. A refined dessert perfect after an opera. It wasn't Opera season when we were in Vienna and we were less refined being drenched from the rain but we felt fancy trying a Sacher Torte across the street from the opera house. #vienna #nationalsachertorteday

It's Wildlife Conservation Day! Stay wild! #wwf #wildlifeconservation

December 3 is Roof Over Your Head day! I couldn't help but think of one of my favorite buildings, this unique ceiling and roof of the Pantheon in Rome. The coffered ceiling of this circular building has a 142ft Oculus that opens to the sky to let natural light and the occasional rain in. So this holiday is focusing on all of us having a roof overhead and grateful when we do that it doesn't have a giant hole in the middle too. #roofovermyhead #pantheon

December 2, 1845, US President James Polk announces to Congress Manifest Destiny, that the United States should expand the West, from coast to coast. So happy the US is settled to the Pacific, so happy some of it is still a little wild. #california #wildflowers

December 1, 1986, Musee d'Orsay opens in Paris. The museum building was originally a train station but the short platforms became unusable for the longer trains. An idea for a museum to bridge the gap between the Louvre and the Georges Pompidou was developed and the old train station became the right fit. I love the d'Orsay, love the art, love the building, and love that it is free the first Sunday of the month. #d'orsay #paris #artforeveryone

Former British Prime Minister and member of Parliament, Winston Churchill, was one of the most influential army officials, leaders and writers. When Parliament Square was being redeveloped in the 1950s he drew a circle and said, "This is where my statue will go." The statue was installed in 1973. Winston Churchill was born November 30, 1874. #parliamentsquare #happybirthdaychurchill

Wednesday my library is open late! It's a little more stocked than this library that is so open it has no roof. The Library of Celsus in Ephesus was opened around 117AD. An earthquake damaged the site in 262AD the interior and 12,000 scrolls were destroyed, only the facade survived. Another earthquake damaged the facade which was reconstructed in the 20th century using the excavated fragments. #library #ephesus #saveallthelibraries
