Snaps to this week’s #Sundaysnaps for making our hearts skip a beat! Meet 20-year-old San Diego native and SFSU student Erin [ @eennccmm ] who began dancing about 12 years ago under the influence of her older brother. She has danced on Studio 429’s junior team, @illhabitssd, and APT, and currently dances with Training Ground. Erin’s dance inspirations include @patcruz, for his incredible dance analogies and his way of making dance feel like more than just choreo, and @austnedwards, for motivating her to take dance more seriously and appreciate grooves. She shares, “Dance has always been my safe space. Whenever I hear a song, I naturally want to move, and the more I dance, the more I feel and understand myself. One of the most important things in improving yourself is your mentality. Though it’s difficult, with every opportunity you’ve just got to commit and do it rather than doubting yourself. It’s a struggle we all go through. Even if you’re taking a beginning class as an experienced dancer, give it your 100%. Take it with the intent of finding something you can work upon and perform it like you’re on stage rather than marking through it.”
Her favorite MNW? “ @dmldr to ‘Panty Droppa!’ Her class was memorable to me as the piece that was taught was one that I truly resonated with. Dez’s style is completely different from mine, so her class pushed me to expand, really explore my movement, and play with textures.”
Here’s Erin’s footage from last week’s class with @robin_ching.
