One Girl  We educate girls. Because when you educate a girl she can change the world! Creators of #doitinadress. Passionate changemakers for #girlseducation

How awesome this clip of @sprechensiedoi skating in a school dress?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We asked Simon why he decided to take on a #doitinadress challenge and here's what he had to say: "The statistics really alarmed me. It’s such a basic, yet necessary part of life which is commonly taken for granted by us and not even an option for some.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Shout out to Simon for taking part in #doitinadress AND for raising enough funds to educate one girl for an entire year! What a legend! Thanks also to @tomhealyphoto for the epic footage! 🙌

“My mother and father disappeared when I was young. I still don’t know what exactly happened to them. I was out of school for four years before. I wanted to study but I couldn’t. Life was very difficult. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember the day I met One Girl so well. They asked me if I wanted to go to school. I said yes – of course. That was a very special day for me. My favourite subject is History and Governance.
I have changed so much in the last years. It’s important to be educated and to know your rights. If you educate girls you help the whole country." - Henrietta, a One Girl Scholar in Sierra Leone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

"I lost both my parents during the Ebola. Fifteen people in my community died. It was awful at that time. After they died I spent two years out of school as nobody could pay my fees. I was missing my parents every day. Then One Girl came to my community and told me I should come back to school. Before I came back to school I could hardly read."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"I want to be a bank manager when I grow up. My favourite class is cost accounting, I like cracking sums and the challenges involved with it. I’m quite good at maths too." - Fatmata, a One Girl Scholar in Sierra Leone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“After the first training session, I felt empowered and had this burning desire to start a business. I enrolled in the program and by the second month of the training I was able to start a business. I sell vegetables: tomatoes, eggplants, amaranth, cabbages, and more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am happy because I was able to join secondary school this year through doing my business and also bought a pig. My business has helped my family.”

Suzan, 14, is a budding entrepreneur and one of our very first Business Brains students in Uganda. Suzan’s dream is to rear her piglet well so it can go on to produce more piglets, which Suzan can sell to pay for her ongoing school fees.
