When I started the brand, I wanted to create the ultimate pyjama, putting the same thought, design, and craftsmanship into nightwear that is usually reserved for ready-to-wear. By 2014, we’d long since nailed pyjamas and I had set my sights on the humble tracksuit. • We spent two years developing the Missy with this same aim – to reinvent the tracksuit, honing it to perfection, and we were incredibly proud of the result.
When we finally launched the Missy in September 2016 the athleisure trend was in full swing. Jourdan Dunn was the first to be spotted in it. She wore the Missy Moscow to fly from New York to London Fashion Week and gave us a shout-out on her Instagram Stories – the whole OvH studio went wild. •
We were all so obsessed with this piece and we were so delighted it was finally out there and getting people’s attention. Bella Hadid, Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez all followed suit. It got to the stage where you’d hear a squeal of excitement echo through the studio and everyone would cheer and shout who now!
The thing that really got us though, was that every one of them wore it on repeat. In an industry where celebs (sadly) aren’t often spotted in the same thing twice this began to make headlines. Press started reporting that ‘Celebrities Can’t Stop (& Won’t Stop) Wearing This Luxe Tracksuit’… the Missy was here to stay.
It now makes up part of our core offering and I’m very pleased to say it still makes regular appearances on our biggest girl (and guy!) crushes in-flight and between shows at fashion week - including this week on Gigi Hadid at New York Fashion Week in the Missy Malibu.
