A murti/ idol is a living embodiment of God. It is not a lifeless form. Life is poured into every image or idol when it is reverentially worshipped with devotion. Devotion has such power. According to our Puranas, with devotion you can awaken the divine power which is hidden in any object. By overcoming the duality of the subject and the object or the knower and the known you can experience oneness with the divinity who is present in all things.

Murti puja in Hinduism refers to the worship of the names and forms of God. The practice is unique to Hinduism. Image worship is also practiced in Buddhism and Jainism. Buddhists worship Buddha, Bodhisattvas and several deities. Jains worship the Thirthankaras and other Jinas. However, both religions do not believe in creator God. Hence, image worship of God is found only in Hinduism.

According to Hinduism, the whole creation is a form of God. Every aspect and form in it reflects his glory because God is hidden in each of them. The whole creation is sacred because it is suffused with the presence of God. Hence, every aspect of it is worthy of worship. When you say, "God is this or that," you are limiting him. When you say, "God should be worshipped in this or that manner only," you are again defining and limiting your methods of worship.

Some people scoff at the idea of murti / idol or Shivling worship as an act of superstition. However, devout Hindus accept this worship as a simple way of expressing their faith, love and devotion to God. There is a childlike innocence and purity of approach when a person stands reverently in front of a Shivling. Worldly people or intellectuals who have strong egos cannot easily surrender to God or worship his images with simple faith. However, those who worship God with devotion and humility know that idol worship connects them to God and open their hearts to divine love.!! ✨🐘❤️👁🕉🌀📿💛🙏🏻✨

Before we bring Lord Ganesha home, here are some of the facts about the festival: 🎉🐘When Is Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrated? 🐘🎉
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the fourth day of Hindu luni-solar calendar month Bhadrapada. Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Chauth, is The birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha - the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. 🎉🐘What Is the Best Time to Perform the Ganesha Chaturthi Vidhi? 🐘🎉
Lord Ganesha was born during the Madhyahna Kala. Therefore, the Ganesh Chaturthi vidhi (rituals) is performed during this time of the day. 🎉🎉Ganesh Chaturthi Customs 🎉🎉
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with much pomp and show across the country. It celebrates Lord Ganesha as the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles. The rituals take place all through the 10 days, with modaks being offered to Lord Ganesha. The festivities begin months in advance with artisans making idols of Lord Ganesha and devotees cleaning and decorating their homes to welcome Bappa.

Beautiful pandals are created across the country in which Ganpati Bappa is placed. Devotees throng these pandals to pay their homage to Ganesha. In Mumbai alone, around 150,000 statues are immersed annually. Ganesha idols are placed in homes. With increasing environmental concerns, many people prefer eco-friendly Ganesha instead of plaster of Paris idols. These days, statues with seeds are also being made. These seeds will get to the soil after the immersion of Ganesha and would help in germinating a plant. 🌙🎉Moon Sighting Prohibited on Ganesh Chaturthi 🎉🌙
According to traditional rituals and practices, moon sighting is prohibited during Ganesh Chaturthi as it supposedly leads to Mithya Dosham. 🎉🐘Ganesh Chaturthi 2018: Visarjan Dates 🐘🎉
The Ganeshotsav festivities end after 10 days on Anant Chaturdashi. On this day, devotees immerse idol of Lord Ganesha in a water body close by. This year it falls on 23 September. ✨🐚🕉 @odisha_igers

Much awaited festival of western #odisha .. Here is my take on NUAKHAI Special thali . .
.
Nuakhai an agricultural oriented festival mainly celebrated by the people of western odisha . Nuakhai is dedicated to the season's new harvest. It's a festival where we thank our mother nature or regional deities like in sambalpur maa samaleswari, in bolangir maa pattneswari etc for giving us a good harvest of rice. The head of the family perform some ritual like they have to offer "Nabarnna" (naba+anna which means new rice ) which is basically a mixture of new harvested rice grain , coconut and jaggery. Then we have to take blessings from our elders and enjoy different different local delicacies. .
In this way we celebrate this beautiful festival related to our roots . .
.
On my plate .👉 Arua bhata (rice)
.👉dali (dal or lentils soup)
.👉ghanata tarkari (mix vegetables curry) .👉aloo potal rasa(pointed gourd and potato curry)
.👉ambil (I can't describe ambil😂 cause it's an emotion)
.👉janhi rai ( ridge gourd Cooked with mustard peanuts paste)
.👉saru makhan saag( arbi and pumpkin leaves cooked with bamboo shoots and tamarind)
