7 years ago to the day, I was laying in a hospital bed. I just had the surgery that changed my life, and I was in rough shape. Before my surgery, my ribs grew inward and I couldn't run around my house. Today, after my ribs grew around a metal bar, I ran an easy 8 miles in preparation for another ultra-marathon. Yesterday was the seven year anniversary, and I didn't follow tradition to share something because I was filled with anxiety, just like I was pre-operation. Now, the day after, I'm feeling a little bit more joyful, just like 12 year old John. I share my story so you know that nothing is impossible. From around the house to 100Km I am a new guy. Thank you so much to all those people who have helped me along my running journey. You have changed my life. This journey hasn't been easy, but it is always and always will be worth it.
