She was something fierce, a spitfire, a force to be reckoned with. I have so many fond memories of visiting, at times being fearful of her, at times being in awe of her. She took absolutely zero crap from anyone, and had a lot of love to give. She was strong in ways she would never give herself credit for, and had to grow up far too quickly - raising those that should have been only siblings and not dependants. I miss her dearly, and her last words to me ring so loudly in my head. This is the perfect resting place for her - we drove 4x4s up the mountain to a point we could drive no more, then hiked for 30 minutes. We laid her to rest atop a mountain, so she can see the stunning vistas for all eternity. It was the spot of her first date with my uncle, and hearing him say 'goodbye, my sweet' as she was scattered into the wind dragged my heart into my throat in a way I did not think was possible.
It's been a whirlwind family trip, and soon it's back to reality - but for a short moment it was good to spend time with family and remember that our hearts belong in the mountains that make them sing.
