Andre Wagner’s father was a minister in Omaha, so church on Sunday was an all-day affair. The day would start when his grandfather picked up the family in what he called his “Sunday van.” Andre sang in the choir, went to Sunday school and usually ended up having a meal at the home of another preacher. “You were spending time with people from church and being part of the community,” he said. Drawing from those experiences, @photodre recently spent a couple of Sundays roaming the streets in Brooklyn and Harlem searching for people dressed in their Sunday best. These men congregating after church in Harlem reminded Mr. Wagner of Omaha. “I would see this, where brothers would huddle up and be talking about their week or maybe talking about the service,” he said. “You’re kind of just catching up with folks, seeing how people are doing.” For more photos and an interview with Mr. Wagner, click on the link in bio. Mr. Wagner spotted the women above on the bus on his way to church. “I felt like I was sitting in a pew in the back of the church and the woman in front of me has a hat so big I can’t see the preacher,” he said. "I wanted to retrace my roots growing up in Omaha and going to church," said Andre Wagner, a photographer in Brooklyn. "I wanted to see how that looks on the streets in New York, and, through clothes, explore how people wear traditional attire." At first these girls in Harlem didn’t pose, but after a couple photos, they began to ham it up. “They were like, ‘Oh, hold on, we can pose, we can really make it happen,’" @photodre said. @Beyonce wore one of Laura Wass's designs in her music video for "7/11," and another appeared on the cover of @ChildishGambino's last album. @ErykahBadu is a big fan as well. "It's the sacred geometry that makes up our world, minds, bodies and spirits," Ms. Badu said of the repeating shapes that Laura uses to form her pieces, some of them massive and others compact enough to be worn as necklaces. From stripper to Instagram celeb. From reality star to rapper. Cardi B has the hit of the summer, “Bodak Yellow,” which is No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. This “regular degular schmegular girl from the Bronx" built her career on her ability to rattle off one-liners like "I’mma get that schmoney” on the VH1 reality series “Love & Hip Hop.” During her time on the show, some viewers saw her as a hero of female empowerment. After releasing two mixtapes, Cardi B signed a deal with Atlantic Records earlier this year. New York Times Styles' @joannanikasnyc spent an afternoon and evening with the rapper as prepared for her first hometown show since the hit. Link in the bio and in his week's Sunday Styles. “I can be a hard taskmaster for some directors,” @samuelljackson said in a recent interview with @joncaramanica. The option to go golfing twice a week is written into all of his film contracts. And he doesn't do extra takes. “I’m at that point,” the actor explained, “where I can say: ‘Uh, you know, that’s not going to be in the movie, right? We already got it, we got it when we did this, that and that. I’m not going to do that.’” Read more about our Men's Style cover star at nytimes.com/mensstyle (link in bio). 📸: @petrafcollins for @nytimes

“Walking around Tijuana, I noticed 3 main ideas — music, tradition and family — and those themes influenced the photographs I took,” @jokemichaels, who has traveled to the city several times in the last 7 years, said. In May and June, he set out to explore those themes, employing the city’s vibrantly painted buildings as backdrops. The first photo here was taken at the Tijuana Pride parade. “This is right about the time everyone was getting out the cars and off the trucks and congregating in the main square for a big dance party,” @jokemichaels said. “For that moment they were celebrities.” Visit nytimes.com/styles to see more scenes from his trip (link in bio).
