This is the Map Room on the 6th floor of the NYSE, highlighting historic maps from our archives. When companies applied to list on the NYSE in the 19th and early 20th centuries, maps were often included to help assess the valuation of the company’s assets. These historic maps are from municipalities, utility companies, and railroads.
The raising of capital on the Exchange facilitated the railroad era and set the stage for the birth of modern industrial America in the late nineteenth century. Some of the railroad assets on display here are still a part of our NYSE listed family. #BeyondTheFloor
