Today's Borough Student Advisory Councils (BSAC) Leadership Summit was a success! 🙌🏼
The event motivated our young leaders to continue to value civic engagement and appreciate their role as representatives and advocates for all 1.1 million students in NYC public schools.
We were inspired by the power that youth and adults have when they get together to hear from one another, strategize about ideas and make connections! #GetInvolved #WorkingTogether

🌎 Today we announced the launch of 33 new #preKforAll Dual Language programs across the City this fall, more than doubling the number of existing programs from 30 to 63! “Being able to speak and read in a different language, and understand a different culture, is a game-changer for our kids,” said Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña. 📚Learn more: nyc.gov/prek

⚠️ Due to expected severe weather conditions, all New York City public schools will be closed Thursday, January 4, 2018. After-school programs, adult education, YABC programs, and PSAL activities are also cancelled.
DOE central and field offices will remain open. Information for staff can be found on the Staff Emergency Page (schools.nyc.gov)

New York City district schools will be open, Friday, January 5, 2018. All programs and activities will be held as scheduled.

🐶 Today we’re celebrating the expansion of our #ComfortDog program, now operating in nearly 40 schools across New York City! The program launched in seven schools last year and brings dogs into schools to work directly with students and staff to improve school climate and contribute to social-emotional learning. 🐩

2⃣ Register to apply to Specialized HS: ask your school counselor how to register for the SHSAT or for LaGuardia HS auditions. 🎼

3⃣ Go to school #openhouses 🏫: plan your fall visits to high schools that interest you to help you figure out which 12 programs you will list on your application.
