#ICYMI: Shalane Flanagan (@ShalaneFlanagan) was named the 2017 #NYRRProPerformer of the Year & honored with a presentation at the #NYRRRUNCENTER ft. the #NBRunHub this morning. Watch highlights from today's event and get a peek at the permanent display that honors her historic win that was unveiled on the History Wall.

Flanagan's journey to the TCS New York City Marathon start line as an NYRR #TeamforKids Ambassador began in August when she joined NYRR for the #PercySutton5K race. She took part in the event as a Race Buddy for NYRR’s Run for the Future program. Flanagan’s Race Buddy, Mackenzie Morrison, from Uncommon Charter High School in Brooklyn, was the one to present Flanagan with her award.

Shalane Flanagan received the first-ever New York Road Runners Pro Performer of the Year Award in a ceremony and celebration on December 11 at the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the NB Run Hub. Read all about it on our blog, linked in our profile.

#TBT to race day when about 1,500 youth ran 1.7 miles in Central Park at the third annual #RisingNYRR Youth Invitational at the #TCSNYCMarathon. The young runners flew over the final stretch of the marathon course just as the 50,000 marathoners in Staten Island prepared to start their race. Best way to start a magical day!
